Sponsorship is so important to me! When you sponsor a child through World Vision, you're not only personally showing God’s love to a child in need, you’re also investing in a proven way to help that child and their community stand tall, free from poverty.
Hi! I'm Alicia. I'd love to answer any questions you have about sponsorship. Feel free to call or text me at 954-579-1705 or email email@example.com.
In the meantime, here's my story!
The first time that I can recall I heard about World Vision was at a Women of Faith conference and I was immediately moved to sponsor a child. It was overwhelming at first to choose a child from a large group of pictures. One child's picture stood out to me and tugged at my heart when I saw the look of sadness in her eyes. I was speechless and fighting back tears when I signed up to sponsor her. That was the moment that she began to forever occupy a place in my heart. To watch her grow over the years has been amazing and I am so grateful for all the blessings she has been able to receive through sponsorship.
Over time I sponsored other children and even though we haven't met most of them in person, my family considers them a part of our family, and there's a unique story of how we came to sponsor each of them. I'm convinced that God orchestrated each of these sponsorships. And our family feels so much bigger than just the 5 of us living under our roof.
Each of our sponsored children live in different countries and have different circumstances, but they all are in need. Sponsorship has been such an easy way for us to connect with them, their families, and their communities, and make a big impact on their lives from THOUSANDS of miles away. My family has not had to miss one meal in order to help these families, and yet their lives are CHANGED by sponsorship. We couldn't even fathom how much sponsorship would help them - over the years one family has been able to purchase a solar panel (so they wouldn't have to use only firelight at night), a gas double burner cooktop (so they wouldn't have to cook using wood and cow dung), and a bicycle for the father to ride to work (so he wouldn't have to walk). These are HUGE life changes for them, just imagine!!
My family was blessed to be able to visit one of our sponsored children and that was a life-changing event for my family and for his family - we will never forget it. You can read about it here.
One of the main things I have learned through child sponsorship can be summed up by a phrase I heard recently. A fellow child ambassador said this about the children in these poor communities and it resonated with me:
Not because they HAVE less means that they ARE less.
The children and families in these poor communities are not less important than us, or our own children, or the children in our own communities and schools. They don't deserve less because they were born under different circumstances than us. I saw firsthand, I read firsthand - these are children whose parents worry about them, cry over them, pray over them, the same way we worry, cry, and pray about our children.
"Let my heart be broken by the things that break the heart of God." - Bob Pierce.
I pray that you will consider sponsoring a child today - it's as easy as 1, 2, 3.
Hope For Honduras
Today, we also have an incredible opportunity happening right now in Honduras. For every child sponsored in Honduras this month, a very generous donor has agreed to match $250 of funds to provide clean water to five (5) children and family members in need. If you sponsor today, you can make an incredible impact in the life of a child through World Vision's child sponsorship ministry and also help communities receive the blessings of safe and sustainable clean water in Honduras.
